Overview

" In the new economy, all work is project work." Tom Peters

The structure of the PSC website follows a standard project management framework from the Project Management Institute ( www.pmi.org). The framework consists of five groups of processes: Initiating, Planning, Monitoring, Executing, Closing.

Briefly, processes to INITIATE a project include creating an agreed-upon Scope Statement. To PLAN the project, the team creates a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) that details the work to be done to accomplish what is in the Scope Statement. The team then enters the WBS information into a project management software tool (such as Microsoft Project or Smartsheet) to create its project plan.

As the team starts to EXECUTE the tasks in the project plan, the team needs to MONITOR its progress against the plan and submit status reports to project stakeholders. Finally, when the end product has been delivered and accepted by the client, the team will CLOSE the project. This includes conducting a post-project review session to identify lessons learned and archiving key project documents.

The navigational buttons at left take you to templates and guidelines related to the processes a project manager employs when managing that part of the project. The hyperlinks here in this Overview take you to the same web pages as the navigational buttons.
