Student Resources
Basic needs are a major barrier for our student population. 52% of students experienced at least one of the following: food insecurity, housing insecurity, or homelessness. Staff in the Dean of Students office serves as the Basic Needs Navigator and HOUSE Liaison under the State of Illinois for students experiencing homelessness ad youth in care. The Basic Needs Navigator is a vital resource for students facing challenges related to their basic needs, including housing, food, clothing, finances, utilities, transportation, healthcare, medical, legal issues, and emergency services.

Financial
Financial needs arise outside of standard loans and grants. When this occurs, there are several programs that may be able to provide financial support to students and their children (when applicable).
Students & Children
The Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS Grant) offers student parents two distinct financial support options:
- Childcare Support
- A student parent, enrolled in at least one credit hour at SIUE, with a child between the ages of infant to 5th grade may be eligible for childcare fee coverage up to 100%.
- Low-income families, including those who are Pell eligible, based on priority of need can apply and a sliding scale will be used to determine family eligibility.
- Emergency Funding Assistance
- A student parent who has been faced with an emergent financial need can apply for the one-time CCAMPIS emergency assistance grant.

Students
The SIUE Student Emergency Assistance fund is available to provide one-time financial assistance to enrolled, degree-seeking students who are unable to meet immediate, essential expenses because of a temporary hardship related to an emergency, such as an accident, illness, natural disaster, recent job loss, or other unforeseen circumstances. The funding does not have to be repaid.
