Competitive & Non-competitive Internal Funding
Scholarly activities are the intellectual foundation of SIUE. To encourage and support research and creative activities, the University, through the Graduate School, funds activities through indirect costs recovered from externally-sponsored projects.
Programs considered non-competitive mean you are not competing with colleagues for a pool of available funds. Competitive programs mean that you are. Non-competitive programs generally have rolling deadlines, while competitive programs have specific deadlines. Note that non-competitive does not guarantee funding.
Check the eligibility requirements for each program as they vary. Programs are subject to change at the Graduate School’s discretion. If there are discrepancies between sources of information about a program (including but not limited to webpages, application forms, and other documentation), the Graduate School shall decide which information governs.
Make sure to submit any required final reports by the required deadline.
