When do I need to fill out a holding protocol?

A holding protocol is appropriate in the following situations: 

  1. Animals ordered without an active approved protocol; 
  2. Animals originiating from an inactive, suspended, or terminated protocol;  
  3. Animals on a protoocl under investigation for potential issues of non-compliance when the welfare or the well-being of the animals is in question;
  4. The investigator exceeds the approved animal numbers on a protocol; 
  5. Animals arrive in the facility and (a) The investigator has not received final IACUC approval of an annual report, triennial review, or renewal and (b) the protocol expires and (c) the PI has submitted the request for approval prior to expiration.
