Declare an Engineering Major
Note: Students must first be admitted to the university, and be eligible to enroll in MATH 125 – Pre-calculus or higher to declare a major in the School of Engineering.
Once you have been admitted to the University, you will need to contact the Office of Academic Advising and Counseling to officially declare your major. You may either call them at (618) 650-3701 or e-mail them at [email protected]. They will determine if you meet the minimum requirements to be declared in The School of Engineering. If you meet the minimum requirements, your declaration will be sent to Engineering Student Services electronically.
After your School of Engineering declaration has been processed, a School of Engineering “Welcome Letter” will be e-mailed to your SIUe e-mail address (please make sure to activate your SIUe e-mail address); this letter will have your academic advisor information and will instruct you on how to make to set up an advisement appointment with your academic advisor. A one-hour advising appointment with an academic advisor is required for all students new to the university. New incoming freshmen entering in the Fall are required to attend a New Student Orientation Session in the summer: http://www.siue.edu/admitted/freshman/springboard.shtml.
