Message from the Chair
Dear students, alumni, and community partners, 
Welcome to the Department of Industrial Engineering, and thank you for your time and interest. Our department has great opportunities that we can offer you to succeed in your future career while feeling included and safe.
The vision of the department is to be favored by the most distinguished students, and to be nationally and internationally recognized. The best thing about this department is that you get that small department feel where you get to know the faculty on a personal level, but you're at a big university. It is a department that has a lot of motivated faculty with industry experience, and they're eager to work with students and each other members to produce knowledge.
Our department focuses on providing students with skills that fulfill the urgent requirements of businesses in local, national, and international communities. Through our combined expertise, we have developed unique curricula and programs for our students. Our curriculums provide a broad-based education in manufacturing design and systems; operations research; and production, supply chain, service engineering, and biomedical applications. Case studies, hands-on exercises, service learning, real-world application, student engagement, and problem-solving are among the teaching methods utilized by our faculty to facilitate student learning in the classroom. Our faculty conduct cutting-edge applied research in a range of fields and publishes in scholarly journals. They also serve as career advisors available to talk about job prospects, leadership opportunities for students, program and course choices.
Industrial engineering is a very exciting field for students and offers a diverse range of career paths. They can work in all kinds of different industries, everything from defense to transportation, traditional manufacturing, to service industries like healthcare or banking. Students go on to work in companies all over the world, but more importantly, they work to solve problems that impact humans all over the world. Depending on their tasks, industrial engineers work in a variety of environments, including production facilities or offices. For example, when observing a process, they may watch workers assembling parts in a factory. When solving problems, industrial engineers may be in an office at a computer where they analyze data that they or others have collected. Industrial engineers must work well in teams because they need help from others to collect information about problems and implement solutions. Industrial engineers may have to travel to different places of work to observe processes and make assessments.
