Welcome to Electrical and Computer Engineering!
Ever since Maxwell defined a concise and elegant description of electric and magnetic fields, electrical engineers have created a monumental legacy of technology that is fundamental and irreplaceable today, but also essential to support further progress of humanity.
Electrical engineers handle information and energy in a form of electrical signals. They design and build analog and digital devices to process, transport and store these quantities. Much of that activity requires analytical skills, but the development involves practical experiments, and the end results are physical systems.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering hosts over 400 students in undergraduate and graduate programs of study. The faculty are engaged in research sponsored by various research agencies as well as the local industrial partners. There are numerous student organizations in addition to hands-on learning activities. Graduate students also have an opportunity to participate in teaching and research as graduate assistants.
