Research Interests:
My research interests include both a forensic and analytical focus. I have general interests in developing methods or instrumentation that reduce time or cost to complete analysis. Some of these areas include working with the Library of Congress to determine metal content in old paper to use this information with other paper characteristics to increase paper lifetimes. This method can also be used to trace paper to a particular ream or pile in a criminal case. There is another project where we are using a low-cost Raman system to identify bacteria. I have a strong desire to work developing new forensic methods in separation science for blood alcohol concentration. Lastly, there is potential for using fiber optic detection systems as sensors for analytical systems in forensic science.
