Research Interests:
My research focuses on the development of alternative therapies to tackle infectious diseases. It is of our interest to: 1) study the mechanisms by which antibiotics and other molecules that induce cell death through oxidative damage influence bacterial motility (chemotaxis); 2) examine the role of phenotype in shaping bacterial resistance to diverse therapeutic modalities; and 3) fabricate photoactive self-sterilizing materials to mitigate the propagation of pathogens.
