Transcripts
Applicants must make all appropriate arrangements for providing official academic records attesting to their secondary and postsecondary education. Unofficial transcripts may be uploaded via the application center for review purposes only, but official, final transcripts are required before students are admitted and to avoid class registration holds.
Applicants Still in Secondary/High School
Submit official records showing grades for all years of secondary/high school AND official exam results or certificate/diploma.
Applicants who have attempted at least 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of college-level transfer credit (either from the U.S. or abroad) are not required to provide secondary school records.
Applicants Applying for Graduate Programs
Submit college transcripts that show grades received in each subject each year, the name of the degree program in which you are enrolled and the dates of attendance. Applicants must also send a degree certificate or diploma.
Please note: Your final official transcript must show your final grades and your degree must be posted. You must have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in the U.S. or the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from an international institution that is officially recognized by that country.
U.S. and Canadian Credentials
All transcripts must be mailed directly to the SIUE Office of Graduate and International Admissions by the registrar. If your school offers electronic transcript delivery, they may send them to [email protected].
Credentials from Other Countries
Official secondary and postsecondary transcripts and degree certificates (including certification of graduation when appropriate) must be mailed directly to our office by the registrar or principal for each school attended.
What does SIUE consider official records?
- Academic records must be originals or certified copies with the original seal of the issuing institution, or Ministry of Education, signed by an appropriate authority and in a stamped and sealed envelope. Originals or certified copies of these records must be in the institution's original language and must be accompanied by officially certified English translations. Notarized copies of credentials are not considered official.
- Students from India must submit individual mark sheets (semester or year), consolidated mark sheets, and degree certificates issued or attested by the Controller of Examinations or Registrar’s Office of the institution responsible for conducting the examinations.
- Students from Africa and West Africa need to submit WAEC/scratch cards with transcripts.
- If you have in your possession original documents (issued to you upon graduation), you may have them attested and copied by an EducationUSA office. We will accept these verified documents as long as they are submitted in a sealed, unopened envelope bearing the name and address of the verifying EducationUSA office.
- Applicants who are seeking university-level transfer credit for courses completed at an institution outside the U.S. may be required to have their transcripts evaluated by an accredited service (ex. ECE). SIUE will utilize this evaluation of credit as a guideline and reserves the right to award appropriate credit.
Approved Certified Translations
- Translations issued or verified by the issuing institution
- Translations issued by the Ministry of Education
- For Iran only: Translations issued by the Ministry of Justice
- Translations completed by a NACES member
IMPORTANT: Per university policy, submitted application materials become the property of SIUE and will not be returned.
