Tuition Waivers
Graduate Assistants are entitled to a waiver of tuition for courses required for their degree during the terms serving as a Graduate Assistant and are subject to the terms and conditions described in this handbook. Graduate Assistants are responsible for paying student fees (Need help calculating your fees? Check out the Tuition and Fees Estimator). In order to avoid tuition payment late fees, contracts must be received by the Graduate School office at least 3 weeks before a term begins. Tuition waivers are processed by the Graduate School upon execution of a fully approved graduate assistantship contract.
Graduate Assistants are eligible for a tuition waiver if they hold an assistantship appointment for a minimum of 12 weeks of a fall or spring semester or 8 weeks of a summer term.
Graduate Assistants are not eligible for a tuition waiver if a graduate assistant appointment is:
- less than 12 weeks of a fall or spring semester or 8 weeks of a summer term or
- terminated before the end of 12 weeks of a fall or spring semester or 8 weeks of a summer term
Graduate Assistants forfeit their tuition waiver and become liable for the full amount due if they withdraw from classes after the first two weeks of the term.
Graduate Assistants under contract over the summer must work at least 8 weeks during the summer term regardless of when their summer course(s) start and end.
Graduate Assistants are still responsible for payment of student fees. For questions about fee charges or payments required, please contact the Bursar’s Office at [email protected] or 618-650-3123.
