Research Grants for Graduate Students - Application Open Until April 1stAre you a master's level student seeking funding to support your research endeavors? The spring application period for RGGS is open as of March 1st, and the deadline to submit a proposal will be April 1st at 4:30pm. Students may request up to $500 in funding, and must meet all eligibility and proposal requirements. The spring application period is ideal for students planning to conduct their research in the summer or fall of 2025. Research & Creative ActivitiesBe inspired by the incredible research and scholarly activities happening at SIUE by both faculty and students chronicled in the Fall 2024 edition of the Research & Creative Activities magazine published online. From sculpture and science to economics and engineering, take a moment to read about the high-caliber scholarship happening all around you at SIUE! Lovejoy Library: Virtual HelpLibrary services are available to graduate students virtually as well as in person. If you're looking for virtual help, try the Ask a Librarian service to speak directly to a librarian over chat, text, or phone or make an appointment to meet with a librarian over zoom for help with all things research! STEM Research HourLibrary and Information Services (LIS) offers a weekly drop-in Zoom session for researchers at any level to ask questions about searching for articles and resources. LIS will offer help conducting literature reviews and citing sources to avoid plagiarism. Meet Eve Koski, MS in Environmental Sciences Eve Koski graduated in spring 2024 with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, specializing in health. She began her master's degree at SIUE in summer 2023, driven by her passion for learning and professional growth. Balancing full-time and part-time work with her studies, Eve's exceptional organizational skills and determination have been key to her success. Her research focuses on the toxicological aspects of pesticides and their impacts on neurological functions. Through her graduate assistantship at the Environmental Health and Safety Department, she has gained invaluable knowledge about occupational health hazards. With 12 years of experience in facilities management as an asbestos building inspector and coordinator of abatement projects for Madison County, Eve plans to complete her master's degree and obtain her Certified Safety Professional (CSP) license. She aims for mid to senior-level positions in the facilities and safety industry. Paul Lega, an Environmental Compliance Associate in Environmental Health and Safety, praises Eve: "Eve Koski is one of the finest students and professionals with whom I have worked. She balances full-time work, school, and a graduate assistantship while fulfilling her roles at home as a mother of three and wife. Eve is encouraging, helpful, and a natural leader.
